Halmuhni
Acrylic, graphite on wooden panels 21.5 x 15.5 inches These are two wood panels with observational drawings of my maternal grandmother, halmuhni. I drafted them in pencil and then added colorful accents with acrylic paint. On the left, I portrayed her washing her hair in the shower and on the right is the image I created after I asked her to pose for me. I wanted to show her warmth and laughter and there was a lot of laughter that day as she good naturedly agreed to be my model. I wanted to render a faithful representation of her so I drafted her body in pencil to capture her as she is. I added the colorful accents because I wanted to express my emotional resonance with my halmuhni and those sparks of color represent her optimism and joyful spirit. |
