Lion King zippers, isopink, wire 10.5x14x15 One of my favorite movies growing up was the Disney movie, “Lion King.” I admired the movement of the animated animals as well as the joyful songs that I remember to this day. I wanted to convey the majestic nature of a lion’s mane. So, I took some time to reflect on how I could translate the movement of animal fur through wire material. The last time I worked with zippers worked well, so I gave it a try using them for this project too. I liked the way that the zippers could be molded and shaped into whatever direction I needed them to be in. This made it much easier to sculpt out the curves of the lion body and make a wild mane of hair. I like how the copper color of the zippers also gives almost a golden color to the lion which adds to the lion’s majesty. |
