Shoes
Clay, glaze, crayons
7x7x2.5
[Weight]
This piece is an outgrowth of the trompe l’oeil assignment from my 3D III class. We were assigned to create any object and make it as realistic as possible. So, I decided to recreate my childhood shoe since it carries so many memories of all my childhood adventures. I wanted to compare and contrast two versions of my shoes: one that is the actual real-life version of the shoe with clay and one that is more on the imaginative side. I wanted to place these two side by side to show that there is a contrast and two sides to my personality too: a realistic side and a more fun, adventurous, and imaginative side. Everyone has a little bit of both of these traits so I thought that visualizing this idea in the form of a shoe would be symbolic since we all are able to fit into different types of shoes and instantly react differently in different situations. The colors of the dull realistic shoe are at a sharp contrast to the colorful shoes next to it.
